MODEL 1 is a performance instrument that brings new creative possibilities to DJs, empowering them to PLAYdifferently.
A mixer of uncompromising build quality, intuitive tactile controls and beautiful, warm analog circuitry. MODEL 1 was engineered by Andy Rigby-Jones and co-designed by Richie Hawtin who spent two years testing, learning and refining with artists, clubs and engineers from the electronic music community worldwide.
MODEL 1 gives you six fully featured input channels plus two stereo returns in a small format. It has many features not currently available on any comparable units, such as preamp input control, hybrid filter/swept bell EQ, dual cue systems, dual mixer link systems, and a fully balanced Tascam DB25 link system.
MODEL 1 is a pure analog mixer with technology typically found in the finest studio consoles, such as a fully balanced mix bus, zero-crossing detection for seamless filtering, and master EQ routing in high-voltage paths.
2 stereo sends
The two AUX controls send the channel signal to the Aux mix outputs for use with external effects processors or, in some applications, local monitors. AUX 1 gives you either PRE or POST FADE while AUX 2 is internally set to postfade.
2 stereo returns
Two stereo channels for use as return inputs from external effects processors or other sources. Each return has TRIM to adjust the return signal, DRIVE circuitry on the input and CUE routing to both Cue A and Cue B. Each return also features metering for visual control of the signal level, a rotary LEVEL fader to adjust the Mix amount, and combined Return 1 -2 Low Cut EQ and Master Filter routing..
3 premium phono preamps
Three premium turntable inputs, optimized for the club environment to minimize the tonal imbalance between vinyl and digital audio, and to eliminate feedback from low bass frequencies. Each phono input has its own individual ground connection for greater flexibility.
Studio-quality faders
Custom-made TKD 60mm faders. Carefully selected to ensure long life and smooth operation, these dual rail faders have a heavy feel for greater precision.
Precision EQ
SCULPT is a semi-parametric swept clock filter, consisting of two controls - FREQ which sets the center frequency and CUT/BOOST which adjusts the gain or attenuation of that frequency. The level of cut/boost is asymmetrical; maximum gain is limited to +8dB, while the cut is extended to -20dB. The Sculpt has a wide Q and a frequency range that covers almost seven octaves.
Contour low and high pass filters
As the name suggests, these two controls allow you to 'shape' the frequency range of the audio signal. They consist of low-Q, high-pass and low-pass filters designed not to color the sound when swept across the frequency range.
Analog overdrive
The DRIVE control is a unique feature on each input. This control allows the user to adjust the level at which the channel preamplifier clips the input signal, creating harmonic distortion as a creative effect.
DualCue
Two independent Cue systems, A and B. Cue A leads to the right headphone monitor and Cue B leads to the left headphone monitor. The DualCue system makes it much easier for two DJs to use the mixer together in 'Back2Back' setups, as each can choose a separate channel to listen to without disturbing the other. This feature also helps DJs hand over to each other in a smooth and natural way.
Mixer Link
A system that allows multiple mixers to be linked together, either for use with two or more DJs, or as a way to expand the number of channels. When linked, the mixers share a common balanced mix that feeds the PA and Booth monitors. In addition, the two Cue systems have been merged, allowing interactive cueing between multiple DJs
Balanced Mix Bus
Fully balanced main mix bus, usually only found in very high-end analog studio consoles and resulting in >110dB dynamic range, improved hum rejection, overall lower noise and crosstalk.
Master High and Low Pass Resonance Filter
The master filter consists of a high-pass filter (HPF), a low-pass filter (LPF) and a resonance control (RES) to adjust the sharpness of the high-pass filter. The master filter can be used as a sweeping frequency effect, or as a frequency preset tool in the mix to instantly cut the low or high frequencies of any channel routed to the filter. Signals can be routed to the MF with the filter selector located on each channel.
Three-band Master EQ
Three-band Master EQ with asymmetrical cut and boost, -20/+6dB that can be used as an effect, and a frequency correction tool.
Two-band Booth EQ
Two-band equalizer that allows the user to adjust the frequency response of the Booth monitors to suit their own preferences.
100% analog
Smooth intuitive controls matched with warm pure analog circuitry.
ZERO Crossing Circuitry
All internal routing uses our Zero Crossing Circuitry system which helps minimize unwanted noise during channel filter selection, master filter on/off and master eq on/off. This system allows each of these functions to be used quickly and intuitively as effects during performance.
Quality components
Smooth components control each specific function for intuitive creative performances during the show.
External power supply
Powered by an external 90W 24v adapter. Then these 24 volts from the external supply are converted internally to just under 20V to the analog circuits using switch technology, giving the MODEL 1 plenty of headroom, whatever the use.
Dual PSU
The MODEL 1 has the option of a dual power supply. This feature - most commonly found on premium live and recording mixing consoles - can offer greater security by powering the mixer while allowing it to have an additional power supply.
As in scenarios such as music festivals, each supply can be powered from separate mains phases. In the event of a phase failure, the second source will automatically take over the power supply to the mixer.
Built in the UK
Built in the UK with our partners DigiCo and Allen & Heath with alloy/steel chassis for maximum strength and minimum weight optimized for touring, clubbing and performance.
